I am utterly pleased to announce that work has begun on the fifth Walker Diver album! In two sessions, we laid down the tracks for 10 brand new songs and I think it’s fair to say this is turning out to be a different beast.
No acoustic guitars, no folky or hillbilly stuff, not a mandoline or pedal steel in sight. I guess I’m going back to my powerpop/punkrock roots.
Desperate times, desperate measures. Well, maybe not that desperate. It’s a tuneful racket, let’s leave it at that.
So who are on board this time? Well, that’s interesting. Patrick Delabie (Studio 195, Scoundrels, Ford’s Fuzz Inferno and a gazillion other cool bands) is behind both the kit and the knobs, Maarten Vermeulen, who was in my very first band BPA (1989-1993) and currently active in Hvalross, is on bass and Mathijs Peeters (Litzberg, Gasoline Brothers, Solo, Jaap Boots) is our esteemed lead guitarist. Mathijs also played on the first two albums and was part of the live band from 2003 to 2009.
I hope the new album will see the light of day before the end of 2025. As a teaser, a new single will be released in October.
